GSTR Foundation - GSTR Grand Prix Official Site

WELCOME
Welcome visitors to your site with a short, engaging introduction. The purpose of GSTR FOUNDATION is to contribute to the development and promotion of sports and culture through the training and development of the next generation of Athletes, Artists, and Instructors.

The GSTR Foundation, a general incorporated foundation, was established on June 15, 2024.
The purpose of this foundation, which was jointly established by the Japan Masters Swimming Association and Gregory W. Lee , is to contribute to the development and promotion of sports and culture by nurturing and training the next generation of sports athletes, artists, and instructors. As I myself have been involved in swimming for many years, I hope to contribute to society by welcoming Olympic medalists such as Kyoko Iwasaki and Mai Nakamura , as well as people involved in the swimming world and sports promotion, to the board of directors.
In the summer of 2021, the Tokyo Olympic Games were held for the second time in 57 years. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Olympics were held without spectators, which was very different from what we had imagined. Although the athletes' performances were impressive, if we had been able to share those moments in person, it would have been immeasurably moving and would have generated more interest. Meanwhile, people's hearts leap every time Major League Baseball player Shohei Ohtani's performance is reported.
I have come to realize once again that sports and athletes have the power to captivate people, and that there are many different ways to convey, showcase, and support that appeal and emotion. The same is true for art and culture. Being able to become absorbed in something and enjoy it fulfills you physically, mentally, and socially, and I believe that this is an endeavor that leads to well-being in life.
Japan is currently entering a super-aging society, and the young population that will support Japan in the future is declining year by year. Nurturing young people is essential to revitalize Japan and support society in the future. At the same time, middle-aged and older people also need situations that allow them to stay active throughout their lives. I hope that they will find ways to become absorbed and enjoy themselves through sports, arts, and culture. I also hope that our training programs for athletes, artists, instructors, and others will lead to the production of human resources who can be active globally, helping to build a vibrant Japanese society.
Please look forward to the GSTR Foundation's future activities!
Shigehiro Takahashi, Representative Director (Chairman) of the GSTR Foundation
